Clint Wheelock, Managing Director
Clint Wheelock is the managing director of Navigant Research. He leads all operations for the group, including management of its analyst team as well as client interactions and consulting engagements. His personal research focuses on smart grid technologies.
Wheelock has an extensive background in market intelligence focused on emerging technologies, most recently serving as chief research officer for analyst firm ABI Research. Prior to that, he was vice president at the NPD Group and research director at In-Stat. Previous positions also include senior product management and strategic marketing roles at Qwest Communications and Verizon Communications, as well as prior experience in management consulting and private investment banking. Wheelock holds an MBA from the University of Dallas and a BA from Washington and Lee University.
Daniel Cardamone, Chief Director of Business Development
Daniel Cardamone is chief director of business development at Navigant Research, with a primary focus on leading the global research sales and client service teams. His personal business development activities concentrate on major strategic accounts and custom research projects.
Cardamone has been selling and marketing white goods, brown goods, market research, and consulting services in 50 states and 50 countries for more than two decades. A former vice president of sales for IDC, he has also held senior-level sales and marketing positions at Toshiba and Electrolux. While business development is his primary mission, he views his true vocation as coaching, mentoring, and training. Cardamone holds a BA in international relations from Saint Joseph’s University and an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Stan Urquhart, Finance Director
Stan Urquhart is the finance director at Navigant Research. He has primary responsibility for the group’s financial planning and forecasting, in addition to oversight responsibility for revenue and expense accounting.
A seasoned financial professional with experience in international banking and U.S. financial markets, Urquhart has deep experience in financial reporting, forecasting, and corporate governance for public and private companies. Prior to joining Navigant Research, he was the CFO at Horizons Real Estate Group. Urquhart is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a BS in accounting from New Mexico State University.
Chris Dawe, Director of Custom Research
Chris Dawe is director of custom research for Navigant Research. His primary role is to lead the analyst teams on custom projects, focusing on clear direction, efficiency, timely responses, and high-quality deliverables for custom research clients.
With more than 15 years of experience in the market research industry, Dawe specializes in providing strategic analysis, tactical end-user research, and overall project management for a variety of custom research engagements. Prior to joining Navigant Research, he was vice president of consulting in the storage, semiconductors, and security practice at IDC. He has also held senior consulting and research positions at TBR and Giga Information Group. Dawe holds a BA in English Literature from the University of New Hampshire – Plymouth, and a project management certification from Boston University.
John Gartner is a research director leading Navigant Research’s Smart Transportation program, with a primary focus on electric vehicles, advanced batteries, and vehicle charging infrastructure. He has overseen many engagements for the world’s leading automotive companies and fuels providers, and oversees the transportation forecast model development.
Previously, Gartner was the founder and editor of the Autopia website where he spent 3 years covering emerging automotive technologies for Wired.com. His work experience also includes editing, writing and consulting about clean energy and information technologies, and he has written for media outlets include Technology Review, Inc., TechTV, and Wired. He has more than 25 years of experience in technology publishing, market research, and consulting. Gartner speaks frequently at industry conferences around the world, and he is often quoted in major media outlets. Gartner holds a BA in statistics from Temple University and a master’s degree in education from Arcadia University.
Noah Goldstein is a research director leading Navigant Research’s Smart Buildings program, with a focus on energy efficiency, building energy management, and applied sustainability.
Prior to joining Navigant Research, Goldstein was a member of the engineering directorate at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he had three major roles: program developer for building energy efficiency, project leader for energy systems informatics, and scientific lead for site sustainability. He led LLNL’s participation in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Efficient Building Hub, a $120 million project to improve the energy efficiency of existing buildings. In addition, Goldstein has held positions at Regenerative Ventures and CTG Energetics (now Cadmus). He holds a BA in biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and an MA and PhD in geography from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Mackinnon Lawrence is a research director leading Navigant Research’s Smart Energy program, with responsibility for content management, key industry and client relationships, and consulting engagements for the program. His personal research focuses on biofuels, bioenergy, and distributed generation. Lawrence has extensive experience as an attorney, consultant, and analyst with deep expertise on topics ranging from environmental policy and international affairs to clean energy.
Lawrence is frequently quoted in leading industry publications, including Industrial Biotechnology and Environmental Business Journal, and he has spoken and led panels at major conferences including the BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioprocessing and the GEA Geothermal Energy Finance Forum. Prior to joining Navigant Research, Lawrence was managing editor of Biomass Hub, an online resource covering emerging law and policy issues for the global bioenergy industry. He has also served as Of Counsel with Cleantech Law Partners, and has advised project developers and cleantech companies on regulatory and legislative developments affecting the biofuels and biopower industries. Lawrence holds a JD from Washington College of Law, an MA in global environmental policy from American University, and a BA from Amherst College, and is a member of the California Bar.
Bob Lockhart is a research director at Navigant Research, leading the group’s Smart Utilities program. His personal research focuses on cyber security markets, meter data management markets, and smart grid managed services.
Lockhart is a frequent speaker, blogger and author, having recently published market forecasts and analyses on smart grid cyber security, industrial control system security, and meter data management. He has extensive leadership experience in the global technology and outsourcing industry, having supported more than 200 multinational clients. He spent 31 years at EDS, 17 of them in information security management. His career encompasses support for smart grid, manufacturing, aerospace, government, financial services, outsourcing, and healthcare industries in both the United States and Europe. Lockhart has served multiple roles including chief security officer, software manager, security portfolio executive, solution architect, and data center manager. He holds a B.Sc. in mathematics from Loyola Marymount University.
Richard Martin, Editorial Director
Richard Martin is editorial director for Navigant Research, with responsibilities including the firm’s relationships with media organizations as well as providing content management and editorial direction for the Navigant Research Blog and other publications. Martin has more than 20 years of journalism experience covering energy, technology, and international affairs.
A contributing editor for Wired, Martin is an expert on the conjunctions of technology, the energy industry, and foreign policy. His work has appeared in Time, Fortune, The Atlantic, The Asian Wall Street Journal, and many other publications, and his article The God Particle & the Grid (Wired, April 2004) was selected for Best Science Writing of 2004. He has held senior editorial leadership positions at ABCNews.com, the Industry Standard, and InformationWeek. His book on thorium power, SuperFuel, was published by Macmillan Science in May 2012. Martin was educated at Yale University and the University of Hong Kong.
Eric Woods is a research director leading Navigant Research’s coverage of smart cities. In this role he brings together his research experience in smart grids, smart water networks, smart transport, and smart buildings. He has over 20 years of experience as an analyst and consultant on new technology trends including in-depth research in the areas of IT infrastructure, data analytics, knowledge management, public sector IT, and cleantech innovation.
Woods is regularly quoted in major publications including The Financial Times, The New York Times, and The Guardian, in addition to being a frequent speaker at industry conferences. He has worked on consultancy assignments to a wide range of clients, including public and private sector technology users and global IT players, as well as many small and growing technology companies. Before joining Navigant Research, Woods was government practice director at Ovum. Prior to joining Ovum, Woods worked as an analyst, developer, and project manager in public sector IT. Woods holds an MSc in information systems from the University of Brighton and a Ph.D. in English literature, an MA in critical theory, and a BA in English from the University of Sussex.
Feng Zhao is a research director with Navigant Research, leading the group’s wind energy research program (formerly known as BTM Consult). He has co-authored multiple editions of the World Market Update, Supply Chain Assessment, and Offshore Wind reports since joining BTM in 2007, in addition to managing other report projects and contributing to a variety of wind energy consulting engagements.
Zhao has extensive market research experience and a particular expertise in Asian markets; he has provided analytical support for several major IPOs by Chinese utilities and wind turbine suppliers in Hong Kong and New York. He is a regular speaker at wind energy conferences in Asia Pacific, Europe, and North America. Fluent in Chinese, English, and Danish, Zhao holds a master’s degree in economics and administration, as well as a bachelor’s degree in communication science, both from Roskilde University.
Peter Asmus is a principal research analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Smart Energy program, with a focus on wind energy as well as emerging energy distribution models such as microgrids and virtual power plants. Asmus has 20 years of experience in energy and environmental markets, as an analyst, writer, and consultant.
Asmus is the author of four books covering key energy market issues: Reaping the Wind, Introduction to Energy in California, Reinventing Electric Utilities, and In Search of Environmental Excellence. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and he is quoted regularly in major publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Christian Science Monitor, and Reuters. Prior to joining Navigant Research, Asmus was president of Pathfinder Communications, and was previously editor of the Clean Power Journal, assistant editor of California Policy Choices, and has written for a number of energy trade publications including Windpower Monthly and Electric Utility Week. He holds a BA in journalism from the University of Wisconsin.
Eric Bloom is a principal research analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Smart Buildings program with a focus on building systems, high-efficiency lighting and controls, and energy efficient building design, construction, and operations. He has extensive experience researching, analyzing, and writing about the built environment, renewable energy, energy use, and climate change.
At Navigant Research, Bloom concentrates on emerging smart building technologies and their contribution to making buildings more efficient and easier to operate. Prior to joining Navigant Research, Bloom worked at Rocky Mountain Institute, where he conducted research for a book focused on energy efficiency and renewable energy use in the building sector. His previous experience also includes positions at Atelier Ten, a building design and energy efficiency consultancy, and the Commission for Environmental Cooperation, NAFTA’s environmental commission. Bloom graduated magna cum laude with a BA in architecture from Yale University.
Sam Jaffe is a principal research analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Smart Energy program, with a focus on energy storage technologies and applications. After a successful career in magazine journalism, Jaffe co-invented a novel compressed air energy storage technology and founded a company to commercialize it, Panea Energy.
Before joining Navigant Research, Jaffe spent 3 years at IDC Energy Insights as a senior analyst and a research manager, producing research reports on distributed energy technologies, providing custom research and consulting services to clients, and managing IDC’s Distributed Energy Strategies service. In 2012 he was selected as the second most influential global energy analyst in Text100′s annual survey of energy influencers. Jaffe, who holds a BA in English literature from Wake Forest University and an MA in Near East studies from New York University, is the author of two books, one on business and religion and another on the Korean economy.
Neil Strother is a principal research analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Smart Utilities program, with a focus on smart metering technologies and related business practices. Strother has an extensive background in market intelligence focused on emerging technologies.
Strother is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and is regularly quoted in major publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Economist, and Bloomberg BusinessWeek. Prior to joining Navigant Research, Strother was practice director of mobile services at ABI Research. He previously held senior analyst positions at Forrester Research, the NPD Group, and In-Stat, and was also the managing editor of ZDNet AnchorDesk. Strother holds an MS from Northwestern University and a BA from Whitman College.
David Alexander is a senior research analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Smart Transportation program, with a focus on hybrid technologies, powertrains, and alternative fuels. Alexander has more than 22 years of experience as an engineer in the automotive industry, completing projects for GM, Ford, Volvo, Magna, and several engineering consultancies.
A member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) for 20 years, Alexander has worked as an editor at SAE, where he wrote and edited detailed technical articles for publications including Automotive Engineering International and Aerospace Engineering magazines. Prior to joining Navigant Research, Alexander was a principal research analyst at ABI Research, where he led the firm’s automotive technology practice. He is often quoted in articles on the latest automotive technology, in leading publications including The Wall Street Journal, Wired, and MSNBC. Alexander holds a BSc degree in mechanical engineering from Brunel University in London, England.
Jesse Broehl is senior research analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Smart Energy program, with a primary focus on global wind energy markets. For the past decade, Broehl has been a reporter, editor, researcher, and analyst exclusively within the renewable energy sector. In recent years, Broehl’s specific focus has been on the wind energy industry.
Prior to joining Navigant Research, Broehl was an advisor at MAKE Consulting, providing research and market intelligence, predominantly on the North American wind energy market. In past roles he led editorial coverage of the U.S. and Latin American wind energy markets for Windpower Monthly magazine as its U.S. editor. Prior to that, Broehl covered all renewable energy sectors as the managing editor of RenewableEnergyWorld.com. Broehl is fluent in French and holds a BA in journalism from the University of New Hampshire.
Anissa Dehamna is a senior research analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Smart Energy practice, with a primary focus on energy storage technology markets. With a background in economics with an emphasis on environmental economics and game theory, her experience includes analysis of urbanization and rural development in Europe and in developing economies.
At Navigant Research, Dehamna’s work has concentrated on analyzing and quantifying the market opportunity for grid-scale energy storage, including the creation of the industry’s first tracker report focused on energy storage deployments. She is quoted regularly in the press including CNBC, Intelligent Utility magazine, and The New Statesman. Before joining Navigant Research, Dehamna was a market analyst at Fuel Cell Today, where she conducted research and analysis focused on fuel cells, transportation, and renewable energy. She previously worked as an associate in program development at Conservation International. Dehamna holds an MS in International Strategy and Economics from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and a BA in international affairs from the George Washington University.
Richelle Elberg is a senior research analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Smart Utilities practice, with a primary focus on smart meters and smart grid networking and communications. Elberg has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, including an extensive background analyzing and writing on the wired and wireless communications industries from operational, financial, strategic, technical, and regulatory perspectives.
Prior to joining Navigant Research, Elberg served as director and senior analyst with JSI Capital Advisors, a boutique investment bank focused on the communications, digital media, and information technology industries. She has also held senior positions in analysis and management with Kagan World Media and KPMG. Elberg speaks French, Spanish, and Russian, and she is the author of two novels. She holds a BA in international business and marketing from the University of Colorado.
Brett Feldman is a senior research analyst with Navigant Research, contributing to the Smart Utilities program. With more than 15 years of experience in the utility sector, Feldman focuses on demand response programs and their implications for the global power industry.
Prior to joining Navigant Research, Feldman was a principal for demand response at Constellation Energy. He has also served as the chair of the New York Independent System Operator Price Responsive Load Working Group, the vice chair of the Independent System Operator-New England Demand Resources Working Group, and the co-chair of the Northeast Energy and Commerce Association Energy Efficiency and Demand Response Committee. The chairman of the Business Issues Committee of the Association of Demand Response and Smart Grid, Feldman is also a member of the Town Council in Franklin, Massachusetts. A Certified Energy Manager, he has experience across multiple markets including ISO-NE, NYISO, PJM, and Ontario. Feldman holds a BA in economics from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Boston University.
Jesse Foote is a senior research analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Smart Buildings program, with a focus on energy efficient lighting technologies. He has extensive experience analyzing and implementing a range of green building innovations.
Prior to joining Navigant Research, Foote was the director of employer partnerships for the Illinois Green Economy Network, where he worked to form mutually beneficial relationships between the 48 community colleges in Illinois and businesses, government and community groups in an effort to grow the state’s green economy. Foote has also worked as the manager of green building services for Harvard University’s Office for Sustainability. He has firsthand experience in the selection and implementation of numerous green building technologies and practices, and has navigated the financial, regulatory, and bureaucratic challenges that are often involved. Foote received a bachelor’s degree in engineering and environmental studies from Dartmouth College.
Dexter Gauntlett is a senior research analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Smart Energy program, with a focus on global renewable energy markets including solar, wind, and hydrokinetic and ocean energy.
Gauntlett has extensive experience in the cleantech industry in the United States and internationally in both the private and non-profit sectors, including a background working with development agencies, development banks, and government programs intended to catalyze cleantech projects in urban and off-grid settings. Prior to joining Navigant Research, he was a fellow with Green Empowerment, an international non-profit that partners with local NGOs to install renewable energy systems in rural villages in developing countries. Previously, he was a senior research and marketing associate with Clean Edge, a research and publishing firm focused on the cleantech industry. He has also served as director of service learning at Green Empowerment and a senior sales associate at Green Mountain Energy. Gauntlett holds a BA in political science from the University of California Los Angeles.
Lisa Jerram is a senior research analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Smart Transportation program. She analyzes emerging markets for new technology vehicles and infrastructure, including electric vehicle charging equipment, electric and hybrid buses, fuel cell vehicles, hydrogen infrastructure, forklifts, and clean diesel vehicles.
Jerram has over has 20 years of experience analyzing advanced transportation technologies and markets, with a particular focus on electrified transportation. Jerram is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and has contributed to or been quoted in media outlets such as Bloomberg Businessweek, GigaOM and FierceEnergy. Prior to joining Navigant Research, Jerram was a senior market analyst at Fuel Cell Today, where she authored research reports and led consulting engagements in the transportation and infrastructure sectors. She also served as technology director at the Breakthrough Technologies Institute as well as associate director at the Northeast Advanced Vehicle Consortium. Jerram holds a BA from the University of Virginia.
James McCray is a senior research analyst with Navigant Research, contributing to the Smart Utilities program. A 30-year veteran of the software, professional services, and energy industries, McCray focuses on transmission and distribution technologies for smart grids.
With deep experience in the utility industry, McCray has held senior executive and strategy positions at Accenture, Siebel Systems, and Pacific Gas & Electric, and has helped lead startup companies that have been acquired by KEMA, Autodesk, and Pacific Controls, among others. He has also written numerous reports for the Electric Power Research Institute on data visualization, DOE-2 model calibration, and measurement and evaluation approaches, and his work has been published in the ASHRAE Journal, ACEEE proceedings, and other leading utility periodicals. Prior to joining Navigant Research, he was vice president of marketing at Power Assure, Inc. McCray holds a BS in mechanical engineering and a BS in secondary education from the University of Wisconsin.
Lauren Callaway is a research analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Smart Utilities program, with a focus on residential energy management, advanced metering infrastructure, smart thermostats, and distribution grid optimization.
Prior to joining Navigant Research, Callaway worked in resource management for developing communities, engaging in market research and project development for non-profits located in Taiwan, China, and the United States. Competent in written and spoken Mandarin, Callaway holds a BA in Chinese from Lewis and Clark College and an MBA from the University of Colorado’s Leeds of School of Business, where she participated as a sponsorship coordinator for the 2013 CU Cleantech New Venture Challenge and team member for the 2013 CU Cleantech Market Assessment Project.
Benjamin Freas is a research analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Smart Buildings program, with a focus on building automation systems and emerging building technologies. His experience includes both market research and technical expertise in the design and construction of buildings.
Prior to joining Navigant Research, Freas was a content director at Hanover Research, where he managed custom research projects for a variety of industries including oil & gas, manufacturing, and transportation. He has also worked as a mechanical engineer and project manager at J.B. Wyble & Associates. Freas is a LEED Accredited Professional in building design and construction, and he holds a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland as well as an MBA from the University of St. Gallen.
Scott Shepard is a research analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Smart Transportation program. In this role, he provides research and analysis for a wide range of reports, custom research projects, and other initiatives.
Before joining Navigant Research, Shepard was a research intern at the Colorado Governor’s Energy Office, where he constructed policy recommendations from surveys and interviews of industry professionals and bond project participants. In this role, he also developed an economic analysis of the electric vehicle industry in Colorado. Prior to that, he was campaign manager for a Denver City Council race and deputy outreach director for John Hickenlooper’s campaign for Governor of Colorado. Shepard holds a BA from Colorado State University and a masters of public administration from the University of Colorado at Denver.
Madeline Bergner is a research associate contributing to Navigant Research’s Smart Buildings program. With a background in public policy, Bergner has contributed to a number of energy policy advocacy campaigns for clients in the energy efficiency and renewable energy fields.
Prior to joining Navigant Research, Bergner was a policy associate at the AnnDyl Policy Group, where she provided congressional monitoring and supported projects and campaigns for clients. She has also worked with the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, at the University of Virginia, the energy infrastructure division at SAIC, the American Chamber of Commerce in Taipei, Taiwan, and the office of Colorado Rep. Jared Polis. Near-fluent in Mandarin, she also speaks German and Spanish. Bergner holds a BA in East Asian studies and an MA in public policy from the University of Virginia, where she wrote her master’s thesis on options for developing hydroelectric power in Nepal, with The Stimson Center’s Environmental Security program.
Ryan Citron is a research associate with Navigant Research, contributing to the Smart Transportation program. With expertise in both clean energy and resource law, he has authored several technical and research papers on solar and wind power.
Citron has provided research and analysis for several organizations including the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), the Oregon Department of Energy, the International Center for Appropriate & Sustainable Technology, and the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA). Prior to joining Navigant Research, he was a solar researcher at NREL, contributing to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Soft Costs Program. He holds a BA in law and human rights from Carleton University and master’s degrees in resource law studies and environmental policy and management from the University of Denver.
Taylor Embury is a research associate with Navigant Research, contributing to the Smart Energy program. He has experience as an assistant and a lead researcher on projects related to recycling, smart grids, and other cleantech topics.
A former teacher of math, science, and entrepreneurship at the Montessori School of Evergreen, Embury is a two-time winner of the Capstone Business Simulation. Previously, he was an intern at Rocky Mountain Institute where his research focused on disruptive smart grid technologies. He plays professional lacrosse for the Colorado Sabertooths of the Continental Indoor Lacrosse League. Embury holds a BS in economics and an MS in engineering and technology management from the Colorado School of Mines.
Robert Eckard, Associate Analyst
Robert Eckard is an associate analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Smart Buildings program. Eckard has more than a decade of experience in the water, energy, and environmental industries. His work focuses on energy and efficiency markets, as well as related business practices.
Eckard maintains broad expertise in cleantech energy and water markets through active experience in North America, Europe, and portions of Asia, the Middle East, and Australia. With a strong background in energy and water infrastructure technologies and analytics, Eckard has consulted with various clients including federal and state agencies, Fortune 500 corporations, energy industry startups, and venture capital firms. He graduated summa cum laude with a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and is currently working on a Ph.D. at the University of California, Davis.
Craig Foster, Associate Analyst
Craig Foster is an associate analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Smart Buildings program. As an industry analyst, he has experience covering a variety of technology markets including M2M, smart home, smart grid, home energy management, in-flight connectivity, and power transmission products.
Prior to his work with Navigant Research, Foster was a principal analyst at ABI Research where he launched a new research area focused on the home automation market in addition to expanding the company’s M2M research service. Previously, he led the development of custom projects on the low voltage products market for IMS Research and also took responsibility for its then-nascent aerospace research group. Foster has been widely quoted in trade journals, magazines, and other forms of online and print media, most notably Forbes and The Sunday Times. He holds a BA in economics from the University of Leicester.
Aditya Kaul, Associate Analyst
Aditya Kaul is an associate analyst contributing to Navigant Research’s Smart Utilities program, with a focus on communications networks for smart grid applications. He has 10 years of experience in market research and consulting, focusing on emerging technology markets including cleantech, telecommunications, IT, and semiconductors.
Prior to his work with Navigant Research, Kaul was practice director at ABI Research, leading the networks research group. He was also responsible for establishing a new wireless research and consulting practice at Pioneer Consulting, and has provided independent consulting and research services to telecom research firms such as Unstrung Insider (Light Reading) and Juniper Research. He is a prolific speaker, moderator, and panelist at industry conferences, and has appeared frequently in print and broadcast media including The Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, ZDNet, and EE Times. Kaul holds MS degrees in engineering from both Colorado State University and Pennsylvania State University.
Maria Freiria, Director of Business Development
Maria Freiria is a director of business development at Navigant Research, with a focus on Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Her primary role is to develop and grow client relationships and to expand Navigant Research’s presence and visibility in the EMEA region.
Freiria has extensive experience in technology market research and marketing services. Her background includes business development, marketing, and sales positions with MetrixLab and IDC. Freiria speaks Dutch, Spanish, English, French, and German fluently. She holds a BA in European studies from the University of Amsterdam.
Tom Mahowald, Director of Business Development
Tom Mahowald is a director of business development with Navigant Research, responsible for developing client relationships in eastern North America. An experienced business development leader, Mahowald has spent more than two decades in sales and marketing for technology and market research companies in both national and international settings.
Mahowald specializes in helping companies leverage external research to achieve their business goals and create value creation for their customers. Prior to joining Navigant Research, he was a senior sales executive at IDC. His career also includes senior positions with Vadium, Datamonitor, and Everest Group. Mahowald holds a BA in finance from the University of Colorado and an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Frindee Abriol, Senior Client Service Consultant
Frindee Abriol is a senior client service consultant with Navigant Research. She has more than 13 years of experience in project and operations management for national and international companies, with particular expertise in Salesforce, systems implementation, and IT management.
Prior to joining Navigant Research, Abriol was operations manager for Camco International Group, a clean energy project developer in Broomfield, Colorado, where she designed, built, and administered custom applications in Salesforce for the company’s regional and global offices. A former Peace Corps volunteer in Western Samoa, Abriol led the development of a new Peace Corps program called Village Based Community Development. She holds a BS in psychology from Iowa State University and a master’s degree in community planning from the University of Cincinnati.
Chin Wi Hwa, Manager of Business Development
Chin Wi Hwa is a manager of business development at Navigant Research, focusing on the Asia Pacific Region. Chin has more than a decade of experience in sales and marketing in the market research field in Asia Pacific.
Before joining Navigant Research, Chin held production management and business development positions at GfK Asia and ABI Research. A native of Singapore, he speaks English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Hokkien fluently and has a deep knowledge of technology and energy markets in Southeast Asia and China. Chin holds a BA in marketing from Central Queensland University.
Ryan Edwards, Manager of Business Development
Ryan Edwards is a manager of research business development at Navigant Research, with a focus on developing and growing strategic accounts in the Western and Southeastern United States, as well as Canada and Mexico.
Edwards has 10 years of experience in sales and business development. He specializes in creating solutions-driven strategies to capture new business while growing existing client bases across multiple territories. Prior to joining Navigant Research, he was a business development manager for healthcare at Herman Miller. Edwards holds a BA in advertising from Michigan State University.
Albert Lee, Manager of Business Development
Albert Lee is a manager of business development at Navigant Research, with a focus on developing and growing strategic accounts in the Northeastern United States. He has more than a decade of business development experience in the utility, information technology, and market research fields.
A former director of utility programs for AMLI Residential, Lee has also held account management and operations positions at CDW and UPS. He holds a BS in industrial engineering from Purdue University.
Charles So, Manager of Business Development
Charles So is a manager of business development at Navigant Research. Based in the company’s Seoul office, he handles report, subscription, and custom research sales for South Korea and Japan.
An experienced market research sales professional, So has worked in a variety of roles in both the private and public sectors. Prior to joining Navigant Research, he was a sales manager at MBAP, a leading market research reseller in Asia Pacific. So holds a BA in business administration from Berkeley College in New York City.
Ilaria Cireddu, Business Development Associate
Ilaria Cireddu is a business development associate at Navigant Research, responsible for single report sales in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. She has held positions in sales, business development, and market research across multiple industries.
Prior to joining Navigant Research, Cireddu worked in a variety of inside sales roles for companies such as NetJets, EMC, and CBS Interactive. She has also worked as a research analyst at FreshMinds on various projects in the consumer goods sector. Fluent in English, Italian, and Spanish, Ilaria holds a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Cagliari.
Alex Eller, Business Development Associate
Alex Eller is a business development associate at Navigant Research, responsible for single report sales in western North America.
Prior to joining Navigant Research, Eller previously served as a client relations manager at Energy Acuity, where he was also the lead analyst for a research project on the investment strategies of U.S. power utilities. Eller, who is fluent in Spanish, holds a BSBA in international business from the University of Denver.
Allison Lynch, Business Development Associate
Allison Lynch is a business development associate at Navigant Research, responsible for single report sales in eastern North America.
An experienced market research sales professional, Lynch has held positions at market research firms in the technology and healthcare fields. Prior to joining Navigant Research, she was a project and account manager at Clear Voice Research. Lynch holds a BA in biology from Colorado College.
Krystal Zayas-Wright, Client Service Associate
Krystal Zayas-Wright is a client service associate with Navigant Research, responsible for facilitating communications and customer service with the group’s global client base. She has client service experience across a wide range of companies and industries.
Prior to joining Navigant Research, Zayas-Wright was an event specialist and sales manager at A Spice of Life Catering and Events. She also previously worked as an assistant manager at Century Theatres and as an office administrator at the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors. Zayas-Wright holds a BA in political science, with a minor in German, from Occidental College.
Susie Gallaudet, Production Director
Susie Gallaudet is the production director for Navigant Research. She leads the editorial and production team, responsible for project management and production workflow related to the development, review, and publication of research reports and custom research projects.
Gallaudet has 15 years of process-focused management, business development, and communications experience across multiple industries, including market research, consulting, media and publishing, and architecture/engineering. Before joining Navigant Research, she was a senior business development manager at Nexant. Gallaudet is also an active community volunteer; she played a key role in the project development, bond initiative, community outreach, and construction planning for a new rural, special-district funded library in northern Colorado. She holds a BS in advertising and an MA in rhetoric and composition from the University of Colorado.
Ellie Stutts, Director of Program Management
Ellie Stutts is the director of program management at Navigant Research. She leads the research organization’s new product development efforts and is responsible for communications activities including the Navigant Research website, media relations, webinars, and events.
A market research leader with broad experience across multiple business disciplines, including product management, marketing, client service, and operations, Stutts has held senior positions in the cleantech, wireless, information technology, and financial services industries. Prior to joining Navigant Research, she was director of product management at the NPD Group. Stutts holds a BS in business from the State University of New York at Albany.
Lesley Weisbrot, Senior Editor
Lesley Weisbrot is senior editor at Navigant Research. She plays a lead role in editing Navigant Research reports for consistent standards and quality, focusing on clarity, style, and usage.
An expert editor with broad experience in molding and improving market research reports in the technology sector, Weisbrot has been a wordsmith for most of her life. Prior to joining Navigant Research, she worked as a freelance copy editor at ABI Research. She is also a veteran skydiver with more than 400 jumps. Weisbrot holds a BA in English with honors from Skidmore College.
Alexandria Davis, Project Coordinator
Alexandria Davis is a project coordinator at Navigant Research, with a primary focus on supporting the group’s custom research program. Her primary responsibilities include developing proposals, project tracking and administration, and leading editing and production for custom research client deliverables. Before assuming this role, Davis was a production associate at Navigant Research with a concentration on syndicated research reports.
Prior to joining Navigant Research, Davis was a financial text editor at Caption Colorado. Davis holds a BA in English from Colorado State University.
Jessica Donnelly, Project Coordinator
Jessica Donnelly is a project coordinator at Navigant Research, managing conference partnerships and providing support for editorial processes and product development. She is an experienced market researcher and analyst with Navigant’s Solar Services Program and was previously the editor and contributing writer for the Solar Outlook newsletter.
Donnelly has presented at major conferences, including the IEEE PV SEC, Solar Power International, Photovoltaics USA, and Photovoltaics Summit. She has also appeared on Solar Central at PV America West for Renewable Energy World.com. Her body of work as a credited VFX artist includes several feature films, including Synecdoche, New York. Donnelly holds a BFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where she studied compositing for visual effects.
Claudia Peck-Kiousis, Administrative Specialist
Claudia Peck-Kiousis is the office administrator for Navigant Research’s main office in Boulder, Colorado. She has more than 10 years of administrative and office management experience with a range of technology and consulting companies.
Prior to joining Navigant Research, Peck-Kiousis was an executive assistant with FreeWave Technologies, supporting the CEO, CTO, and VP of operations. Her previous administrative roles include positions at PingVision, G.E.I. Consultants, and Kleinfelder, Inc. She was also the owner of Aspen Leaf Photo, where she provided digital restoration services for photographs and videos as well as digital archiving of documents and photographs, and she was a founding member of a non-profit organization that supports female business owners. Peck-Kiousis holds a BA in communications from the University of Arizona and a master’s certificate of business management from Tulane University.
Lindsay Lorenz, Production Associate
Lindsay Lorenz is a production associate with Navigant Research. Her role focuses on copy editing, formatting, and publication activities for syndicated and custom research products.
An experienced journalist and copy editor, Lorenz has edited, written, and formatted a variety of content for newspapers, a PR agency, and an advertising-design firm. Prior to joining Navigant Research, she was a researcher and staff writer at the Providence Business News in Providence, Rhode Island. She holds a BA in journalism from the University of Rhode Island.
Sam Nixon, Production Associate
Sam Nixon is a production associate with Navigant Research, focused on copy editing, formatting, and publication activities for syndicated and custom research products.
An experienced newspaper copy editor and designer, Nixon has designed newsprint pages for a variety of publications including the Boulder Daily Camera, the Longmont Times-Call, and the Colorado Daily. He holds a BS in journalism from the University of Colorado and a certificate in International Asian Studies from Kansai-Gaidai University.
