Yes, recorded US energy use has been leveling off since ~1970, but that doesn’t correspond to US energy use purchases.

To get the answer you need to look at ALL the energy uses required to deliver our ever doubling GDP, being made up by similar ever doubling energy uses for delivering it, located in the records of different countries. National statistics just don’t record who paid for the energy use and its products, so those energy uses don’t get traced back to the US.

Where you get the math for solving the problem is to look at the global Kuznets curve, which is just **shockingly different from what you and Kuznets say**. World energy use has VERY steadily grown in proportion to GDP as the rich economies matured, VERY STEADILY! It proves conclusively that the Kuznets curve hypothesis does NOT occur globally.

Of course, people don’t come to understand why that is if they don’t want to know. It’s also clear from the past 30 years of discussion that most people don’t really want to know, but are eager to skip the details to go with stories that attract the most money… (the original problem)!

Our society then can’t move toward using our global profits to secure our global home… (the original solution everyone keeps avoiding).
