Retrofits for Commercial Buildings

Moving the Needle on Energy Efficiency in Existing Buildings

NR_ResearchIconsIntelligentBuildingManagementSystems200px_ICON_0116Countries worldwide are implementing measures to reduce energy consumption and GHG emissions in response to the continued challenges posed by climate change. Buildings, which account for 35%-40% of global energy consumption, represent an important pathway for achieving these goals. Thus, many countries are identifying energy efficiency in building operations as a policy goal and many building owners are realizing the benefits of reduced energy consumption. As efficiency standards for equipment have intensified and more efficient LED lighting solutions have displaced fluorescent tube lighting, energy consumption in newly constructed buildings has declined. However, these buildings account for only a small portion of overall building stock. Better technology is filtering into existing buildings, but cost-effective retrofit potential remains.

In this webinar, Ben Freas, principal research analyst at Navigant Research, Elodie Geoffroy-Michaels, vice president for Americas, Energy & Sustainability at CBRE Global Workplace Solutions, and Logan Soya, founder of Aquicore, examine the opportunity for energy efficiency retrofits in commercial buildings. They also analyze the key market and technology issues related to HVAC, lighting, controls, and commissioning.
